Ermita to opposition: Don’t sell your soul to devil

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita on Sunday warned that opposition politicians are "selling their souls to the devil" by making alliances with communist rebels and rightist elements to overthrow the Arroyo administration. He said the Communist Party of the Philippines and New People's Army (CPP-NPA) rebels and some rightist elements would destroy democratic institutions once in power. Ermita issued the statement after Malacañang announced that it has thwarted a rightist-leftist plot to oust President Arroyo beginning February 24. After President Arroyo declared a state of national emergency on February 26, authorities launched a crackdown on communist leaders and leftist party-list congressmen. Police even raided a newspaper and guarded broadcast networks in Metro Manila. -GMANews.TV
