MPD calls on banks to install CCTV, high-end gadgets


MANILA, Philippines — Manila’s police chief urged bank officials to install close circuit television cameras and other high-end gadgets in all their branches to ward off robbers. In a meeting with bank managers and security chiefs, Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales, director of the Manila Police District (MPD), said banks need to give priority to security as he cited intelligence reports that big-time robbery syndicates are set to strike in Metro Manila. During the dialogue with bank managers and security officers of several business establishments and banks, Rosales noted that closed circuit television cameras and Blackberry mobile phones Global Positioning System in mobile cars could help lessen crime incidence in Metro Manila. “The dialogue was held in response to some intelligence reports that syndicated crime groups are in the process of planning for the conduct of robberies in Metro Manila," said Senior Inspector Romana Geronimo, MPD head of public information office.
