30 women 'rescued' from Quezon City streets
MANILA, Philippines - At least 30 women were "rescued" in a police anti-prostitution drive in Quezon City, a radio report said early Wednesday. Radio dzBB's Louie Garcia reported that the Quezon City police's "Oplan Magdalena" said the women were "rescued" at the Anonas, Cubao and Kamuning areas. Police said several of the women were driven to prostitution because of poverty, with some of them allegedly also engaged in other petty crimes. While they did not say if there were minors among the 30, the police said they will turn over the women to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.- GMANews.TV
