Police recapture one of five escaped Caloocan inmates
Police recaptured on Tuesday one of five inmates who bolted their detention cell in Caloocan City on Sunday. Authorities said they recaptured Romeo Villaluz, who was facing charges of physical injury, in Sapang Palay, Bulacan. "We caught him in Sapang Palay, with the help of his parents and with the help of our counterparts in Bulacan," GMAâs dzBB radio quoted NPD head Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil as saying. Villaluz and four others, who were arrested on charges ranging from robbery-snatching to physical injury, escaped last Sunday night by destroying some bars of their detention cell at the Northern Police District (NPD) headquarters in Caloocan. The jailbreak prompted Bataoil on Monday to relieve Supt. Maximo Valiente as head of the District Police Investigation Unit (DPIU) where the jailbreak took place. The NPD chief named Supt. Jimili Macaraeg, head of the NPD District Intelligence and Investigation Division (DIID) as Valiente's replacement. Earlier, the parents of one of the escapees, Salvador Eugenio, promised to turn over their son to authorities if he shows up at their house. Police said the manhunt will continue for Eugenio and the other inmates who remain at large, namely Agustin Geneses, Marvin Rubio, and Faustino Sampang. -GMANews.TV
