Handcuffed inmate escapes from jail guards in Manila
MANILA, Philippines - Still handcuffed, an inmate facing murder charges escaped Tuesday after attending a court hearing in Manila, jail authorities said. Superintendent Hernan Grande, Manila City Jail warden, identified the escapee Jason Tagle, who had been in the MCJ since 2007. Tagle escaped at 10 a.m. after attending a hearing at a regional trial court at the Manila City Hall, Grande said. The fugitive, together with some 80 detainees, was about to board an MCJ bus when he ran off to a waiting motorcycle near the Manila Police District Station 3 in Sta. Cruz, Manila, where the inmateâs shuttle was parked. The motorcycle sped off toward a narrow alley in the area going to Recto Ave. Authorities believed the murder suspect planned his escape as the it happened during a customary procedure every time inmates attend hearings for their cases. Officials are investigating if there were security lapses in the incident. - GMANews.TV
