Motorcycle motorcade to promote registration in Tondo

MANILA, Philippines — A motorcycle motorcade will be held Saturday to encourage voters there to register for the 2010 elections, the Commission on Elections said Friday. Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said some 30 Tondo-based bikers from the "Alamid ng Maynila Motorcycle Riders Club" will join the "Comelec Riders Club" in the motorcade. “This activity is part of our efforts to mobilize the community for wider voter participation," said Jimenez in an article on the Comelec blog site (www.bagongbotante.ph). He said leaders in Zone 10’s five villages have committed to support the Comelec in encouraging their constituents to register. Comelec is currently conducting a series of satellite registrations in Manila’s Tondo District. The motorcade will start at 10 a.m. at the covered court of Barangay 125, at the corner of Patria Street and Malaya Extension in Balut. - GMANews.TV
