BFAD orders immediate recall of 2 Setton Farms pistachio product
MANILA, Philippines â The Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) ordered Friday the immediate recall of two pistachio products from the United States for possible risk of salmonella contamination. In BFAD Advisory 2009-004, BFAD ordered the recall "within 24 hours" of: ⢠Setton Farms Premium California Roasted Salted Pistachios imported by Duty Free Philippines; and ⢠Setton Farms Roasted Salted Pistachios imported by Andalucia Trading Co. Inc. "The BFAD has directed the above-named importers to immediately withdraw or cause the withdrawal within 24 hours from today of the above products from all market shelves," BFAD Director Leticia Gutierrez said. A copy of the advisory was posted on the BFAD website (www.bfad.gov.ph) Friday night. Gutierrez said this was due to the US Food and Drug Administration's investigation of salmonella contamination in pistachio products sold by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc. California and its voluntary recall of its processed pistachio products. "For the same reason above, this office hereby directs all supermarkets and retailers to withdraw the said products from their shelves, and enjoins everyone not to eat the same products," Gutierrez said. - GMANews.TV
