Army men deployed to Pasay bus stations – report
MANILA, Philippines â Personnel from the Philippine Army were deployed to bus terminals in Pasay City to complement police efforts in ensuring the security of passengers heading for the provinces, a radio report said Tuesday. Radio dzBBâs Nimfa Ravelo reported that the Armyâs National Capital Region detachment joined in inspecting five bus terminals at the Buendia-Taft Avenue area in Pasay City. Meanwhile, the report also quoted newly-appointed National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) head Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales as saying that they are moving for the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the Pasay bus terminals for the Holy Week exodus. The radio report added that traffic was moderately snarled at the areas near the bus stations due to the influx of passengers. On Monday, Pasay City police chief Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta said that police have started a 24-hour watch on bus terminals. Petrasanta added that he ordered police mobile units to keep watch over bus terminals and other populated areas to render assistance to passengers. Also on Monday, knives and bladed weapons were confiscated from passengers at the Five-Star bus station in Pasay City Aside from the Pasay bus terminals, authorities have likewise tightened security in bus stations across the metropolis and in airports and port areas. - Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV
