MILF warns public of fake Qur'an being circulated

MANILA, Philippines — The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) warned Saturday against what it called a new and fake Qur’an being distributed, especially in the Middle East. An article on the MILF website (www.luwaran.net) cited reports two US printing firms, Omega 2001 and Wine Press, are involved in the publishing of the “True Furqan." "It has also been titled as the 'The 21st Century Qur’an.' It has over 366 pages and is in both the Arabic and English languages," the MILF said. The book contains 77 Surahs, which includes Al-Fatiha, Al-Jana and Al-Injil. Instead of Bismillah, each Surah begins with a longer version of this incorporating the Christian belief of the “Holy Trinity." Also, it opposes many Islamic beliefs where it describes having more than one wife as fornication, divorce being non-permissible. It uses a new system for the sharing out of the will, opposing the current one, and states that “jihad" is “haram" or prohibited. Each copy costs $3, the MILF said. The MILF said its contacts in the Middle East especially in Kuwait have confirmed the existence of such book in circulation. It also warned against some websites that it said were distorting the true teachings of Islam. It named these as www.answering-islam.org, www.aboutislam.com, www.thequran.com, and www.allahassurance.com. - GMANews.TV
