Ruby Rose laid to rest without daughters

MANILA, Philippines - Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez was laid to rest on Wednesday morning without her two daughters having visited her wake. The body of Ruby Rose, sister of former beauty queen and actress Rochelle Barrameda, was found last week inside a drum placed in a cemented steel case that was fished from the bottom of Manila Bay in Navotas City. She had been missing since 2007. The gangster-like disposal of Ruby Rose’s body has stunned the public and even Malacañang, with Secretary to the Cabinet Silvestre Bello III saying that they are expecting Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera to “take all appropriate and effective measures to really bring the criminals to justice." A report from GMA-7's Jun Veneracion said Ruby Rose’s relatives, friends, and supporters flocked the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City to give support to the Barrameda family over the victim’s grisly murder. The report said Ruby Rose’s family was very emotional during the burial, with Rochelle tightly embracing the coffin before it was lowered to the ground. Also missing from the services was Ruby Rose’s estranged husband, Emmanuel Jimenez III. The two had been separated since 2006. Daughter's say In an exclusive interview with GMA News’ Steve Dailisan aired on "24 Oras," Ruby Rose's eldest daughter said that although she misses her mother, she is happy with her life now. Dailisan also quoted the daughter as saying that she’d rather focus on her studies. The Barrameda family had repeatedly requested for Ruby Rose’s two daughters to visit their mother’s wake at the Heritage Park in Taguig City. Murder complaints had been filed by the Barrameda family against seven people, including the victim’s father-in-law, Manuel Jimenez II, and his brother, Lope Jimenez. Manuel had denied the accusations and said they would face the charges to prove their innocence. Supplemental affidavit As this developed, the informant who tipped authorities on the whereabouts of Ruby Rose's body submitted a supplemental affidavit before the Department of Justice (DOJ) in order to strengthen his earlier testimonies against the people allegedly behind the killing. A GMA Flash report said no less than National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) head Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales took Manuel Montero's additional testimony. The police official said he considers Montero a credible witness to the case. Montero is among the respondents in the complaint filed by the Barrameda family, but authorities are considering turning him into a state witness. He was the one who identified six other suspects in the case. Other respondents in the complaint are Eric Fernandez, Spike Discalzo, Roberto Ponce alias Abet, and Rudy de la Cruz. - GMANews.TV
