June 24 a non-working holiday in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has declared June 24 a non-working holiday in Manila to give Manileños time to celebrate the city's 438th foundation day. The declaration was in virtue of Proclamation No. 1799, which was signed by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita in behalf of President Arroyo, who is on a four-day working visit in Japan. Proclamation No. 1799 states that “it is but fitting and proper that the residents of the City of Manila will be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies." - Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV
