Eusebio loses mandate over Pasig cops

The National Police Commission (Napolcom) on Thursday clipped Pasig Mayor Vicente Eusebio’s powers over law enforcers in his jurisdiction. Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno, Napolcom head, decided to strip Eusebio of his power for hastily dismantling the shanties of the so-called “shabu talipapa" in Mapayapa compound, Sto Tomas village, Pasig. Some lawmakers accused Eusebio of “covering up" the maintainers, financiers and suppliers of the shabu market when he demolished the area few days after elements of anti-narcotics police raided the area. Eusebio claimed his action was in accordance with law and he decided to clear the area to eradicate the shabu talipapa permanently. The Napolcom officials, however, considered Eusebio’s action unlawful as possible evidences to build a case in court were destroyed. Eusebio’s comment regarding the Napolcom decision was not know as of posting time. GMANews.TV
