Fire hits National Statistics Office; records not saved


Fire of still unknown origin hit the fourth floor of the National Statistics Office (NSO) annex building in Manila's Sta. Mesa district before dawn Tuesday. The fire, which started at 3:29 a.m., reached the fifth alarm even as arson investigators feared that records and computers inside the building may have been destroyed. "None of the records or computers were taken out of the building. We don't know what caused the fire, or what the extent of the damage is at this time," dzRH radio quoted fire marshal Pablito Cordeta as saying. He said the fire hit the fourth floor of the NSO annex on Ramon Magsaysay Blvd. in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
