TV host Edu Manzano resigns as OMB chief
Television host Eduardo âEdu" Manzano on Thursday confirmed he has submitted his resignation letter relinquishing his position as chairman of the Optical Media Board. âYes, I did submit my resignation," Manzano said in a text message to GMANews.TV. He added he could not provide further details about it because, he said: âIâm in Sri Lanka at the moment." Also, he did not indicate when he tendered his resignation and why. But some reports have hinted he is planning to run for senator in the 2010 elections. Manzano is the second government official to resign from his post this month. On August 11, socioeconomic planning secretary and National Economic and Development Authority director general Ralph Recto announced he was quitting his post for a possible senatorial bid in 2010. Recto, who ran under the administration ticket, lost in the senatorial race in 2007. Manzano won as Makati City vice mayor in 1998. Three years later, he ran for mayor but lost to incumbent Mayor Jejomar Binay. Manzano also planned to run for senator in 2007, but he did not push through with it. He is the former husband of Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos, who is now Rectoâs wife. - GMANews.TV
