Filipino beauty queen back in RP, glad hijack scare over
Relieved that her mid-air nightmare was over, former beauty queen Jamie Liz Castillo returned to the Philippines on Friday afternoon and was elated to be reunited with her family. Castillo arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 1:25 p.m. onboard a Singapore Airlines flight. Her parents, who were driven to tears when they first learned of the hijacking, greeted the former beauty queen carrying flowers and baloons. The Filipino stunner was among the 113 passengers on board a Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-400 when two Turks forced the pilots to take the plane to Italy. Upon her arrival, Castillo said she could still not believe that she went through the hijacking ordeal. The Boeing aircraft was headed for Istanbul, Turkey from Albania, where Castillo competed in the Miss Globe International 2006. Castillo won top honors in the 2003 Mutya ng Pilipinas beauty pageant and had also competed in the Miss Asia Pacific pageant. She had her fair share of misfortunes during her trip to Albania. During one bus ride, her cellphone and some personal belongings were stolen. Castillo was reportedly with other contestants from India, Singapore, and Malaysia during the hijacked flight.-GMANews.TV
