Long weekend again: Sept. 21 is non-working holiday

Filipinos can look forward to another long weekend. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has declared Monday, September 21, as non-working holiday. The declaration is in observance of the Muslim holiday, Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. September 21 coincidentally marks the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines 37 years ago. Workers in the business process outsourcing and electronic sectors, however, are exempted from the holiday. Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said earlier that the exemption was requested by the Department of Trade and Industry. - Aie B. See, GMANews.TV
