Rizal Amang for president in 2010

A man who has no backing of any big political party or influential family will try his luck in next year’s presidential race. The man, who identified himself as Rizal Amang, went to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Manila on Wednesday to submit his specimen signature for the nomination of candidates of their political party, the Alpha Omega 9K Party. Amang refused to talk with reporters regarding his imminent candidacy, but bragged that his party already has a full slate of candidates and that he will make the formal announcement soon.

The Comelec Law Department told GMANews.TV that according to the letter submitted to them by Amang’s group, the real name of the would-be presidential candidate is Fernand A.M. Fernandez. The Comelec’s Clerk of Commission said AO 9K Party was among the groups that applied for accreditation as a national political party last September, but the poll body has yet to come out with a decision to grant them accreditation or not. According to the petition, the AO 9K Party is a three-year-old non-government organization that holds office at 1032 Yakal St., Looc, Calamba, Laguna. It said the group has 23 officers who were selected and elected last July by organizers of Alpha Omega 9K Aklat ng Buhay, Inc. It said it has 17 regional centers, some of them in the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao and Cordillera Administrative Region. - GMANews.TV
