Grandma Arroyo flies to HK to be with grandkids
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Sunday flew to Hong Kong for some rest and recreation after attending the climate change summit in Copenhagen, Denmark, Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said. In a statement, Remonde said President Arroyo will be in Hong Kong from December 20 to 23 âfor a private family vacation in fulfillment of a promise to her grandchildren." President Arroyo and her husband, First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, have four grandchildren: Mikaela Gloria and Marie Angelique by Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel Arroyo and wife Maria Angela; and Eva Victoria and Diosdado Miguel by Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado Ignacio Arroyo and wife Viktoria. Presidential Daughter Evangelina Lourdes Arroyo-Bernas and her husband, J. Aloysuius Bernas, are also in Hong Kong to join the First Family, according to Remonde, whoâs also in Hong Kong to celebrate his birthday on December 21. President Arroyo is expected to arrive in Manila on the evening of December 23, Wednesday. She will then proceed to her home province of Pampanga to spend Christmas with her province-mates. "She will deliver her traditional Christmas message on December 24," Remonde said. President Arroyo is running for Congress in Pampangaâs second district in next yearâs elections. Remonde, meanwhile, assured that the President would continue to monitor the situation in the country â particularly the evacuations in Albay province due to Mayon Volcanoâs restiveness â even when sheâs on family vacation. Before leaving for Denmark last December 16, President Arroyo instructed concerned government authorities to attend to the needs of residents that maybe displaced by the imminent eruption of Mayon. - KBK, GMANews.TV
