2 killed, 1 hurt in predawn accident at Pasig City

At least two men were killed while another was seriously injured after their sports car slammed into a post along a flyover in Pasig City before dawn Saturday. The incident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on the northbound part of the flyover at the corner of Ortigas Avenue and C-5 Road in Ugong village in Pasig City. "Kitang kita ko ang pangyayari. Mabilis ang dating niya sumampa sa island at tumama sa poste. Ang makina lumabas, tumama sa akin (I saw what happened. The vehicle was going too fast, hit the center island, and rammed a post. Parts of the vehicle flew out and some hit my taxi)," said Jaime Falcon, driver of an MGE taxi (TVD-162), in an interview on dzRH radio. The dzRH report said the victims were passengers of a red Audi Quattro sedan (BAM-222). Rescue teams initially identified the fatalities as John Paul Uy and Ramon Garcia, 28, all of Valle Verde in Pasig. Brought to a nearby hospital was John Michael Ong, 28. Uy was the driver of the vehicle. Police are verifying witnesses' claims that the passengers of the Audi were racing with another vehicle and going past 100 kph when they crashed into the post. The front of the vehicle was totaled, while parts of the engine struck an MGE taxi and a nearby motorcycle. Authorities had to close off the northbound portion of the flyover as oil and parts from the destroyed vehicle littered the road. — LBG, GMANews.TV
