Another 'mistah' of Bangit to assume vital AFP post
Another member of the Philippine Military Academy "Makatarungan" Class of 1978 is set to occupy a vital position in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Rear Admiral Feliciano Angue, currently the chief of staff of the Philippine Navy, will be the incoming chief of the AFP National Capital Region Command (NCRCOM), replacing Maj. Gen. Reynaldo Mapagu who formally assumed his post as commanding general of the Philippine Army Friday. Interviewed after the turnover ceremonies at Fort Bonifacio, Mapagu said Angue is very much qualified to assume the NCRCOM post. "Felix [Angue's nickname] is a capable officer. "He is good at special operations, Admiral Angue is a warrior just like [Major] General [Juancho] Sabban," he said. Angue is the first Navy officer to become head of the NCRCOM, which was reactivated in 2003 following the Oakwood mutiny. All previous NCRCOM commanders were from the Army. Angue is scheduled to assume his new post on Saturday. Mapagu, Angue and Sabban (who is commandant of the Philippine Marines) are all classmates of AFP chief General Delfin Bangit. Their class has President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as honorary member. Other members of their class holding sensitive posts in the Philippine military are: Air Force chief Lt. Gen. Oscar Rabena, Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) chief Lt. Gen. Roland Detabali and Lt. Gen. Ralph Villanueva, commanding general of the AFP Central Command. â RSJ, GMANews.TV
