Hundreds of new nurses brave rains, take oath
Even a typhoon failed to dampen the resolve of hundreds of new nurses from taking their oath Monday at the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) main office in Manila City. Some 900 new nurses braved the rains and lined up in front of the PRC office as early as 6 a.m. They were divided into three batches, with the first set taking their oath at about 10 a.m. after waiting for about four hours. Thousands of new nurses were sworn in last Friday after the Court of Appeals declared there was "no legal impediment" for their oath-taking. Many of the nurses came from provinces such as Bataan for their oath and looked forward to finally seeking employment now that their four-month ordeal was over. However, some 1,687 nurses whose names were later added to the list of passers were barred from taking their oaths and will have to retake the exam on December 2 and 3. Their names were included in the list of passers after the PRC recomputed scores on two supposed leaked subjects. The CA, however, voided the PRC resolution on the score adjustment.-GMANews.TV
