BW Movement plans more flash protests vs Arroyo
With residents from Metro Manila still left out, organizers of a weekly flash protest movement are now planning an International Black Friday Protest against Gloria Arroyo. The Black and White Movement said it is still working on the details of a massive protest action that will include those outside Metro Manila. ââ¬ÅMy apologies to those outside Metro Manila, for excluding you from this flash protest. We will try to organize one that will involve you. Even now, weââ¬â¢re already planning an International Black Friday Protest. Abangan (Just watch out)," said Vicente Romano III, a convenor of the movement. Romano conceptualized the ââ¬ÅBlack Friday" protest movements last March 1, almost a week after Arroyo declared a state of national emergency. For their first protest, members of the Black and White Movement wearing black T-shirts met at a Starbucks café in Makati City. Last week, Romano instructed movement members to meet at the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Station in Ortigas. The Black Friday Protest Movement was launched to give professionals, students, businessmen, and other sectors a venue to express their protest against the repression of Arroyo. Patterned after the flash mob concept, the Black Friday Protest calls on people to gather at a designated time and place every Friday, wearing black attire as a symbol of protest. There will be no programs or speeches, but people will be given specific instructions on what to do, and the whole exercise should last about 30 minutes at most.-GMANews.TV
