Ex-girlfriend disgusted over Pacquiao’s no-show in court

The woman who claimed she has a “love child" with Manny Pacquiao, expressed disgust Tuesday when the latter failed to show-up in the preliminary investigation of the case she filed against the boxing hero. Joanna Rose Bacosa filed a case against Pacquaio for violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act, for his failure to provide financial support to their child. Pacquiao was supposed to appear before assistant city prosecutor Maria Gracia Casaclang to swear in his counter-affidavit. However, Pacquiao’s lawyer, Jose Crisostomo Jr was the one who submitted it. Casaclang said Pacquiao went to her office to swear in his counter-affidavit early Monday morning. Casaclang said the boxer has prior out-of-town commitment Tuesday. Crisostomo also clarified that his client was not avoiding the press and the complainant but he has only a prior commitment. Bacosa, on the other hand, said she was disappointed over the second non-appearance of Pacquiao, suspecting that the boxing icon was just evading her and their two-year old son. Bacosa challenged Pacquiao to face her and their son and not to hide under the "skirt" of his wife. "If you are really a man, why don't you face me and your son? I thought that you are a brave man, why don't you face us," Bacosa said in Pilipino. Meanwhile, Bacosa's legal counsel, Victor Rodriguez said Pacquiao submitted a one-page counter-affidavit basically denying all the allegations hurled against him by Bacosa. Rodriguez said Pacquiao also denied the paternity issue as well as his relationship with Bacosa. Rodriguez filed a manifestation stating their earlier attempt to undergo Bacosa and her son to a DNA test at St. Luke's Hospital in Quezon City. The chief of the pathology department at St. Luke's Hospital, however, refused to conduct the test since it is required that DNA tests should be done at the same with Bacosa, Pacquiao and their son, present. Rodriguez said they just complied with the challenge of Pacquiao for the DNA test to confirm once and for all the paternity issue. Bacosa’s attorney also said they would submit a reply on the counter-affidavit of Pacquiao on the next hearing on March 29.
