14 PAL flights canceled due to ‘Basyang’

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has canceled a total of 14 flights scheduled to arrive in Manila Tuesday night due to typhoon "Basyang" (international codename: Conson), a statement from the airlines said. The affected flights were from various domestic and international destinations, the statement read. Also canceled were flight departures from Manila scheduled on Wednesday morning while awaiting the return of most of PAL's aircraft that are to be held overnight at different international and provincial airports. The canceled domestic flights were those coming from Bacolod (3 flights – PR138, PR158 & PR160), Zamboanga (2 flights – PR126 & PR128), Puerto Princesa (PR198), Cebu (PR864), Kalibo (PR326), Iloilo (PR148) and Davao (PR822). Canceled international arrivals were those coming from Hong Kong (2 flights – PR307 & PR311), Singapore (PR512) and Seoul/Incheon (PR469). The remaining outbound-Manila flights for the rest of the day, July 13, departed according to schedule. "The aircraft of these flights are to remain overnight at their respective destinations to await improvement of weather in Manila tomorrow (Wednesday) morning," PAL said. The trans-Pacific departures for Tuesday and arrivals for Wednesday morning would follow published schedules, it added. Passengers taking PAL's early morning flights are advised not to proceed to the airport to avoid congestion and await subsequent flight advisories to be issued by PAL, or call the PAL hotline at 855-8888 for schedule updates. Earlier Tuesday, PAL diverted six flights — including two international arrivals — to Clark and one flight to Iloilo due to poor visibility at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The diverted flights were able to land at the NAIA when weather at the airport slightly improved in the afternoon. - KBK, GMANews.TV
