50 residents evacuated from Puting Bato, Baseco in Tondo

At least 50 residents from Isla Puting Bato and Baseco Compound in Manila were evacuated to safer grounds in the wake of tropical storm "Basyang" (Conson). Radio dzBB reported the residents sought help in evacuating their homes at about 3 a.m., when winds from Basyang lashed the city. The Bureau of Fire Protection helped bring the residents, the youngest of whom was one month old, to the Del Pan Sports Complex. Local social welfare officers attended to the evacuees. But other residents in Isla Puting Bato and Baseco Compound stayed behind to guard their homes from burglars. — LBG, GMANews.
