Report: 9 Filipino women held for prostitution in Dubai

At least nine Filipino women were held in Dubai for alleged prostitution, a United Arab Emirates (UAE) newspaper reported Friday. The Khaleej Times Online ( khaleejtimes.com) cited sources in the Philippine Consulate as saying the women were arrested October 31 after authorities raided the house of an alleged Filipino handler in Deira district. It reported that the alleged handler was accused earlier of forcing three young Filipinas into prostitution, after they entered Dubai on a visit visa. The three were repatriated to the Philippines last month, after they sought the consulate's assistance and filed their respective statements.
