Joker: Military holding Arroyo hostage

Senator Joker Arroyo on Tuesday said the military is holding President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo hostage. “The President is, without admitting it, asks the military," the senator said. "We all have to remain alert and vigilant because we might wake up one day and discover that the military has taken over the government," Arroyo said. The senator said the President is forced to consult the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in anything that she wants to do. “The military has discovered through Proclamation 1017 that they can grab power from Gloria Arroyo," the lawmaker said. He said the proclamation was issued after the military announced they have successfully stopped a coup plot by disgruntled soldiers. “Irrelevant na ang political opposition ngayon. Ang military, ang Marines, sila ngayon ang malaking banta sa gobyerno Ngayon, it’s the military versus [Arroyo]," the lawmaker said.-GMANews.TV
