Cops hunt 12 fratmen in deadly Manila hazing

The police have started a search for 12 members of a fraternity linked to the brutal killing of a student, whose body was found inside a plastic drum found in Manila on Wednesday. Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported the Manila Police District is zeroing in on members of the Tau Gamma Phi following the discovery of the body of Noel Borja. The decomposing body of Borja, 17, was found inside a green plastic drum found by children scavenging in the Parola Compound in Manila. Borja was supposedly applying for membership to the Tau Gamma Phi from another fraternity, the report quoted police investigators as saying. Manila Police District head Chief Superintendent Roberto Rongavilla said they are working on the leads provided by fraternity member Hernan Palacio. Palacio, 28, showed up at police headquarters Wednesday, saying his conscience was bothering him. The initial investigation showed that Borja, 17, an Alternative Learning Systems student, was believed to have died from violent initiation rites at the compound on October 24. Rongavilla said some 12 people may have been involved in the hazing and the dumping of Borja's body into the drum. He also said the owner of the house where the hazing occurred may be charged for violating the anti-hazing law–VVP, GMANews.TV
