NBI releases artist’s sketch of another Bar blast suspect

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday released an artist’s sketch of another suspect in the post-Bar examinations explosion in Manila last month. NBI spokesperson Cecilio Zamora Jr. described the second suspect, believed to be a co-perpetrator of primary suspect Anthony Nepomuceno, as:

  • a fair-complexioned man;
  • aged 23 to 24 years old;
  • has a height of 5’7" to 5’9," and
  • has a stocky built.
The second suspect was one of the two men who supposedly came to Nepomuceno’s rescue after he allegedly hurled a grenade in front of the De La Salle University in Manila after the September 26 Bar exams. The explosion left more than 40 people hurt, including San Beda College law student Raissa Laurel who lost her legs due to the incident. Zamora said the suspect in the new cartographic sketch allegedly helped Nepomuceno escape by poking a gun at the group of fratmen, led by Alpha Kappa Rho president Jojo del Rosario, who ganged up on Nepomuceno after the incident. “Nakatakas si Nepomuceno sa grupo ni Del Rosario dahil tinutukan daw ito ng baril ng suspect na nasa cartographic sketch," Zamora said. (Nepomuceno escaped after the suspect in the cartographic sketch poked a gun at Del Rosario's group.) According to Zamora, witnesses saw the second suspect pressing the trigger of the gun after the explosion but the gun did not go off due to an undetermined reason. Del Rosario’s group had to back off for fear of being shot, allowing Nepomuceno and his two companions to escape and run toward Estrada Street in Manila, near De La Salle University. Zamora, however, did not specify if the second suspect, like Nepomuceno, is also a member of the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity. The NBI on Thursday filed multiple frustrated murder and multiple attempted murder complaints against Nepomuceno after he surrendered to authorities on Wednesday morning. Nepomuceno however denied involvement in the incident, saying he and his fraternity have no motive to bomb the Bar exams. –VVP, GMANews.TV
