BJMP eyes 'major revamp' before yearend
Hoping to weed out "non-performing personnel" among its ranks, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is planning a major revamp among officials of its 17 regional offices before the year ends. BJMP Director Rosendo Dial on Friday said the reshuffleâas approved by Interior Secretary Jesse Robredoâwill affect all BJMP directors, chiefs, and other officials of the agency's directorial staff. "But the primary target of the revamp are those non-performing personnel as well as officials and wardens who have already served more than two years in their positions," Dial added in a statement. The BJMP has activated its National and Regional Selection and Placement Boards to assess the performance of these affected officials. This year, the BJMP has added new members to its selection and placement boards, including representatives from a non-government organization, the Church and from Robredoâs office. "This is in line with the transparency policy of the department," the BJMP director added. Dial assured that the evaluation of BJMP personnel will be based on merit, qualification and competence including seniority. The shake-up will also give priority to retiring personnel. The BJMP is an attached agency of the Department of Interior and Local Government.âMark D. Merueñas/JV, GMANews.TV
