MMDA: Number coding in effect on Thursday but not on Friday
The number coding scheme in Metro Manila will remain in effect on Thursday but not Friday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said. In an advisory posted on its website on Thursday, the MMDA said it will lift the number coding scheme only on Friday, a non-working day. "Number Coding is in effect Thursday December 30. It will be lifted on December 31 Friday due to said date being a holiday," the MMDA said. Earlier, the MMDA had said it will lift number coding scheme on December 24, 27 and 31, which Malacañang had declared as non-working days. Under the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), the MMDA will ban vehicles from Metro Manila's main thoroughfares on weekdays depending on the last digit on their license plates. Banned on Mondays are vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2; Tuesdays, 3 and 4; Wednesdays, 5 and 6; Thursdays, 7 and 8; and Fridays, 9 and 0. â VVP, GMANews.TV
