Families start flocking to Luneta Park for New Year revelry
With a little over 12 hours to go before 2011 rolls in, Filipino families started flocking to the Luneta Park in Manila to welcome the New Year. Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC) fielded security personnel and volunteers to secure the families. But the report said the NPDC admitted it will have a hard time cleaning up after the families, many of whom may tend to leave a mess behind. The NPDC said it already deployed volunteers to clean up the 54-hectare national park after the New Year celebration. It also deployed security personnel in strategic areas to check bags and belongings to make sure families do not sneak in weapons, or fireworks. The NPDC said it expects families to particularly see the park's dancing fountains. â LBG, GMANews.TV
