Report: Gasat bus fleet operation suspended after 2nd road incident

Transportation authorities have cracked down on a bus firm that figured in a deadly accident in Batangas last Sunday, and again involved in a hit-and-run mishap two days later. Radio dzBB reported Thursday the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board slapped a 30-day suspension on the entire fleet of Gasat Express after Tuesday night's hit-and-run incident. The dzBB report quoted the LTFRB as saying the "expanded" order now covers the entire 21-bus fleet of Gasat. On Sunday, a Gasat bus figured in a road accident along the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road in Batangas, killing at least seven people. But bus driver Aurelio Doctora was released after the 36-hour reglamentary period lapsed without any charge being filed against him. On Tuesday night, dzBB reported another Gasat bus hit one Ronaldo Benoya on Commonwealth Avenue in Fairview, Quezon City, then sped away. — LBG, GMANews.TV
