Report: 60 families lose homes in Pasig fire
At least 60 families lost their homes in a fire that razed some 20 houses in a residential area in Pasig City on Wednesday morning. Radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported that the fire at Sergeant Santos Street in Bagong Ilog, Pasig City started at 8:45 a.m. and was put out at 9:30 a.m. No one was initially reported injured in the fire, which reportedly started at the house of one Serapio Lumbero, who was in Pampanga at the time of the incident. The fire spread quickly as the houses were made of light materials and firefighters had a hard time getting to the scene because of the narrow streets. The residents said they saw smoke coming from the roof of Lumbera's house, then heard an explosion before the fire spread. Arson investigators are verifying information that a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank left unattended may have caused the fire. Wednesday's fire came less than two days after a five-hour fire rendered some 2,000 families homeless and killed a five-year-old boy in Quezon City. â VVP, GMA News
