Truck driver in ex-teen star’s road mishap charged
A Quezon City prosecutor on Friday recommended the filing of charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against the truck driver allegedly responsible for the death of former ‘That’s Entertainment” actor Denver Razon, son of former Mandaluyong Councilor and singer Darius Razon. Assistant City Prosecutor Arleen Tagaban found probable cause to indict in court Eunize Saizon, 29, a native of Hermosa, Bataan base on the testimony of an eyewitness. During the inquest proceedings, eyewitness Garlando Matinong, a 47-year old taxi driver, told Tagaban he saw the truck being driven by Saizon sideswipe the Honda City carrying Razon before it rammed an electric post and the steel gate of a restaurant. Matinong said he chased Saizon until the latter stopped and insisted he did not hit the car. Razon’s female companion, 23-year old Marian Bustillos, was driving the sedan. She is now confined at the Lourdes Hospital in Mandaluyong city. Despite the eyewitness’ detailed account of the incident, Saizon reiterated before Prosecutor Tagaban he is not responsible for the death of Razon, also 29. In the case of Bustillos, Tagaban has not recommended charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to properties and physical injuries against the driver due to the absence of proof of damage and the medical certificate of Bustillos. Tagaban is waiting for QC Inquest Division chief Meynardo Bautista to approve her recommendation. The case can then be filed before the QC Metropolitan Trial Court. A bail of P30,000 has been recommended for the provisional liberty of the accused. Saizon presented himself to the Quezon City Police District Traffic Division on Thursday, a day after the accident. Bustillos and Razon were traveling along Araneta Avenue in Quezon City early Wednesdy morning when the accident happened. Earlier, police investigating the accident said there were no impact traces or marks on Siazon’s truck that would indicate it hit Razon’s car, but clarified Saizon was not off the hook.
