Next Mobile to launch Internet telephony service
Next Mobile Inc. will soon launch an Internet telephony service, the firm's parent firm said on Friday. The service enables a user to make telephone calls over the Internet or through any other Internet Protocol-based network. The disclosure was made by Information Capital Technology Ventures Inc. (ICTVI) in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange. ICTVI, which owns 19 percent of Next Mobile, said Next Mobile will launch the service before the end of the year. It did not provide more details. Next Mobile is the country's latest Mobile Telephone System (MTS) operator, having obtained its license from the National Telecommunications Commission in January 2006. It is also the Philippines' first and only fully integrated digital wireless operator that integrates four types of communication services: digital two-way radio, digital mobile telephone, data services and messaging, utilizing the iDEN (or Integrated Digital Enhanced Network) technology of Motorola. - GMANews.TV
