Cop shot dead in Quezon City's Cubao area

A policeman was shot dead after an altercation with a village official in Cubao in Quezon City Friday night. The policeman, initially identified as PO3 Jose Dequilla, succumbed to a gunshot wound even as suspect Dionisio Desierto surrendered to police after the incident. Desierto, a councilor of Brgy. Kaunlaran in Cubao district, claimed he shot the policeman in self-defense, radio dzBB reported Saturday. He said Dequilla, who is assigned to the Quezon City Police District Station 7, tried to shoot him during a heated argument. Metro Manila police director Chief Superintendent Allan Purisima said they will conduct an investigation into the incident. "Iimbestigahan natin yan at ina-assure natin ang mamamayan ang investigation natin ay fair. Hindi natin tatakpan ano ang nangyari, aalamin natin lahat na katotohanan dito," Purisima said in an interview on dzBB. — LBG, GMA News
