Michael Ray Aquino to fly back to PHL exactly 10 years after he left


LOS ANGELES — Michael Ray Aquino, a prime suspect in the Dacer-Corbito case, will be flying back from the United States to the Philippines on June 24 (Los Angeles time), exactly 10 years after he left the Philippines. On June 24, 2001, then Police Colonel Aquino flew to Hong Kong on his way to the United States to evade the charges leveled against him as one of the main suspects in the double murder of publicist Bubby Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito. On June 24, 2011 (Los Angeles time), Aquino will be flown back to the Philippines, after US Marshals turns him over to Philippine authorities. The day Aquino flies home to the Philippines marks exactly the 10th year when he left the Philippines. “Bukas po, June 24, 2011, marks his 10th year away from the Philippines. Masaya po siya na after 10 years makakabalik na siya sa Pilipinas," relates Vice Consul John Reyes of the Philippine’s Los Angeles Consular Office. Vice Consul Reyes visited Aquino, who arrived in Los Angeles from New Jersey on June 22. Aquino is presently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center, the prison facility of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in California. Reyes said, “The visit was to ensure that Mr. Aquino’s human rights were respected." “Mr. Aquino expressed sadness in leaving his family, but at the same time happy to finally go home after 10 years, and face the charges files against him. The family of Aquino presently lives in New York," Reyes said. “We will issue him [Aquino] travel documents which is good for one way, direct travel to the Philippines. Dahilan po sa ang kanyang pasaporte ay matagal nang napaso," Reyes explained. Philippine Air Lines PR Flight 103, scheduled to depart from Los Angeles International Airport at 22:35, June 24, will bring back Aquino to the Philippines, accompanied by two NBI officials as security escorts. They will arrive at the Centennial Airport, around 06:05 a.m. on June 26. - VVP, GMA News
