Ateneo de Naga grad tops 4,066 CPA board passers


A graduate from the Ateneo de Naga University in Camarines Sur topped the list of 4,066 new certified public accountants (CPAs) who passed the licensure exams given this month. [Click here for complete list of passers.] Jerome Austria got a percentage score of 94 percent in the CPA board exams administered last week by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)’s Board of Accountancy in seven cities in the country. A total of 8,525 accountancy graduates took the exam, making this batch’s passing rate of 47.69 percent slightly higher compared to the 40.50 percent passing rate last May. The second and third placers, Carlos Yu Jr. (93.43 percent) and Ronnel Mag-isa (93.29 percent), respectively, both came from the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman campus in Quezon City. UP Diliman was also the lone school to have registered a 100-percent passing rate in the October 2011 CPA licensure exams, according to the PRC. Other examinees who made it to the “Top 10" were: 4. Ever Joy Ferrer of the University of Saint La Salle and Ronnel Nuñez of the Bicol University (93.00 percent) 5. Arch Sanchez of the University of Caloocan City (92.86 percent) 6. Abraham Jose Apit of the Holy Name University, Jillian Kristin Deveza of the De La Salle University in Lipa and Elfin Kenneth Puentespina of the Ateneo de Davao University (92.71 percent) 7. Jerwin Tubay of the Dr. Filemon Aguilar Memorial College (92.57 percent) 8. Chico Arellano of the University of the East-Manila (92.43 percent) 9. Nathalie Lao of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Mohammad Muariff Balang of the Mindanao State University (92.29 percent) 10. Paul Jordan Deblois of UP Diliman, Melissa Muñoz of UP Diliman, Rian Ceasar Soliman of the Far Eastern University (FEU), Janine Sy of UST, Jenine Tan of UST, Brian Trinidad of FEU, Eunice Faye Valera of UST and Neil Andrew Yanson of University of Saint La Salle (92.14 percent) Registration for professional identification cards and certificates of registration will start next Monday, while the date and venue of the oath-taking will be announced at a later time, according to the PRC.- KBK, GMA News
