Ram's aide denies involvement in boss' killing

The personal assistant of slain Ramgen “Ram" Revilla, half-brother of Sen. Ramon “Bong" Revilla Jr., on Sunday denied accusations by Ram’s sister, Ramona, that he was the one who killed his boss in Parañaque last week. Ronaldo Ancajas, Ram’s stay-in aide, said he could not possibly kill Ram since he was asleep at the time of the crime. He added that his boss never did anything to give him reason to harm or kill him. “Hindi ko ho magagawa sa amo ko iyon dahil kahit kailan, hindi niya po ako pinabayaan. Mabuti ho ang trato niya sa akin. Parang kapatid na ho ang turing niya sa akin," he said in an interview aired over GMA News TV’s “Balitanghali." Ancajas likewise said that he does not have the capability to commit such a crime. “Hindi ho kayang gawin ng ordinaryong tao iyan. Ang makakagawa lang po noon ‘yung talagang malalaking tao," he said. Ancajas was reacting to Ramona’s allegations that he killed Ram, since he has access to the house.

Ramona left the country on Friday night en route to Hong Kong, days after she and her brother, Ramon Joseph or “RJ," were slapped with murder and frustrated murder complaints for their brother’s death and the serious injuries sustained by Ram’s girlfriend, Janelle Manahan in an attack by two masked men. Ramona and RJ are being accused of plotting the crime. They were allegedly feuding with Ramgen over the division of their allowance from their father, ex-senator Ramon Revilla, Sr. In an October 9 status update on her Facebook wall, their mother, Genelyn Magsaysay, gave clues to the family's mood and financial straits: "I pray for our finances. They are pushing us to the limit. I'm trying to cope, my children are the ones holding our allowance. I'm always the one making abono, they cut off our allowance but they are the ones living luxurious living. They have luxurious cars and houses." She did not state who "they" were. Magsaysay said that despite their differences, her children would not resort to murder as she raised them to be God-fearing people. Sen. Bong Revilla, who had earlier expressed doubts about the police investigation’s sibling rivalry angle in Ram’s killing, said that Ramona’s flight out of the country was a sign of guilt. He likewise appealed to Magsaysay to persuade her daughter return to the Philippines to face the allegations. Ancajas, who affirmed in his sworn statement that the Revilla siblings had a rift prior to Ram’s slay, also called on Ramona to go back to the country and tell the truth. “Sana kung wala kang kasalanan, huwag kang pumunta ng ibang bansa. Bumalik ka sa Pilipinas at sabihin ang totoo para hindi tayo nahihirapan," he said. —MRT/KBK/HS, GMA News
