DepEd: Nov. 28 regular school day, Bonifacio Day not moved
Monday, November 28, will be a regular school day as the observance of November 30 as Bonifacio Day will not be moved, the Department of Education said Friday night. In a post replying to questions from Twitter users on the matter, the DepEd stressed Monday is considered a regular school day. “Yes Monday is a regular school day,” it said. When asked if the November 30 holiday will be moved to the nearest Monday, it said it will not. “Bonifacio Day It will not be moved to Monday. The holiday is on November 30,” it said. Last Sunday, Malacañang made clear there will be no long weekend for this coming week to mark Bonifacio Day. Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said Proclamation 84 had made it clear Bonifacio Day will be marked on November 30, a Wednesday, “as the date falls.” Proclamation No. 84, issued on December 20 last year, specified the dates on when this year’s holidays are to be observed. Bonifacio Day this year marks the 148th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio, the supreme leader of the Katipunan movement that sought Philippine independence from Spanish colonial rule. — LBG, GMA News
