Ramgen girlfriend Janelle Manahan seeks govt protection

The girlfriend of slain actor Ram Revilla (Ramgen Bautista in real life) has formally requested the Department of Justice to admit her in its witness protection program following her discharge from the hospital last Tuesday.

Through a letter submitted to the DOJ by her lawyer Restituto Mendoza past 11 a.m. Thursday, Janelle Manahan admitted that she continues to fear for her life, especially since one of the suspects in the killing of her 23-year-old boyfriend remains at large. "[May this letter serve as an] urgent motion from her family... She is still in fear of her life," Mendoza said, adding that they are hoping for an early resolution of the case.

Mendoza said police officers from "Task Force Ramgen" are currently assigned to look after Manahan — who is currently staying at an undisclosed safehosue — but they are "just temporary agents."

Mendoza said they will be submitting Manahan's affidavit on Friday to "clarify" the issues on money and family dispute that are currently some of the few angles being pursued by investigators.

Ramgen and Janelle were attacked inside the former's home in Parañaque on October 28. Ramgen died after sustaining several stab wounds and a gunshot wound in his body. Janelle survived the attack despite a gunshot wound in the face. Police later tagged Ramgen's two younger siblings — Ramon Joseph or RJ, 18; and Ramona, 22 — in the crime. RJ is already in police custody while Ramona has fled the country.
Another sibling of the slain actor — Maria Ragelyn Gail Bautista — was also implicated in the crime but has since denied the allegations.
Genelyn Magsaysay, mother of the siblings, has repeatedly denied that her chidlren were involved in the killing of their 23-year-old brother and the wounding of Manahan.
