(2nd update) 2 kids, 3 others hurt in Pasig market blast

At least five people, including no less than two children, were wounded after an explosion ripped a public market in Pasig City Monday morning, dzBB radio reported. Initial reports said among those injured in the incident were a seven-year old child who sustained wounds to his foot, as well as a six-year old girl who suffered a wound to her abdomen. Other reported victims include a member of Batas ng Siyudad Enforcement Office, a police officer and a market officer. Police said the blast happened at about 11 a.m. while many marketgoers were going through the stalls. The third floor of the Mutya ng Pasig market sustained the most damage. Senior Superintendent Francisco Uyami, Pasig police chief, said the incident may have been sparked because of disputes regarding illegal market vendors and the recent clearing operations conducted by the Special Operation Group of the Pasig city government. Authorities suspect the explosion to be caused by a pillbox as they were marking scattered nails at the crime scene.-GMANews.TV
