PNP: Even candy, loose change are magnets for car break-ins

Even seemingly trivial items such as candies and loose change can now be magnets for vehicle break-ins, the Philippine National Police advised motorists.

PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said these items can attract "rugby boys,"  radio dzBB reported.

Cruz advised motorists to secure their vehicles and to install alarm systems especially as car theft cases are expected to rise during the holidays.

He added the threat from "rugby boys" is aside from that posed by the "Bukas Kotse" gang.

The PNP also reiterated its advice to motorists not to leave valuables such as electronic gadgets inside their vehicles.
