Phivolcs: 3 predawn quakes hit Dinagat, Surigao


At least three predawn quakes rocked the area between Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte provinces Monday, but state seismologists did not indicate any immediate report of damage or casualties.
 
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the first two quakes measured magnitude 3.8 and were recorded in the Dinagat Islands area.
 
Phivolcs said the first quake was recorded at 12:08 a.m., with the epicenter at 54 km northeast of Loreto, Dinagat Island.
 
The second quake was recorded at 1:12 a.m. with the epicenter at 43 km northeast of Loreto.
 
Meanwhile, another predawn quake was recorded in the Surigao del Norte area, measuring magnitude 2.5
 
The epicenter of the quake, recorded at 1:39 a.m., was traced to 56 km northeast of Burgos, Surigao del Norte.
 
No damage or aftershock was expected from the predawn quakes, Phivolcs said. –KG, GMA News
