Real estate developer: P9.1-M condo unit in Taguig sold to Corona in 2005

A real estate developer confirmed on Monday the sale of a P9.1-million condominium unit at the Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City to Chief Justice Renato Corona and his wife, Cristina, in 2005.

During the resumption of Corona’s impeachment trial at the Senate, Aniceto Visnar Jr. of Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation said the unit at the 19th floor of the Spanish Bay Tower in Bonifacio Ridge was fully paid for in cash by the Corona couple on October 14, 2005.

Corona’s statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALNs) from 2006 to 2009, however, did not contain any information on a condominium unit in Taguig City.

In his 2010 SALN, the chief justice declared that he purchased in 2004 a condominium unit in Taguig City worth P2.3 million.

The prosecution earlier said that Corona’s condominium unit at the Spanish Bay Tower supports its claim that the chief justice failed to properly disclose his properties in his SALN, as contained in Article II of the impeachment complaint. — Andreo Calonzo/RSJ, GMA News
