PAGASA: Rain looms over Eastern Visayas, Mindanao
Rain looms over parts of Eastern Visayas and Mindanao as winds from the east continue to prevail over Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Sunday. PAGASA also said isolated rain showers and thunderstorms may occur over the eastern parts of Luzon and other parts of Visayas. "Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies except for isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the eastern sections of Luzon and the rest of Visayas," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. PAGASA forecasters earlier noted the hot dry season is approaching as temperatures in Metro Manila and other parts of the country have started to rise. In Metro Manila, PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio had said the warm weather may last until at least this weekend. But Aurelio also pointed out Mindanao may continue to experience rain because of the easterlies, or winds from the east. Meanwhile, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to Northeast with slight to moderate to seas. — LBG, GMA News
