Cristina Corona's family (feud) tree
Click here for larger version It wasn't his money, according to Chief Justice Renato Corona's lawyers about the 32 million or so pesos in his bank accounts that he did not declare as a public official. Rather, these were proceeds from the sale of property of his wife's family corporation. Another 11 million pesos was said to be a loan from the same corporation, Basa-Guidote Enterprises Inc. Those revelations were a surprise to Mrs. Cristina Corona's relatives, with whom she has been feuding for more than 20 years. They claimed that they were never given their share despite being co-owners and Mrs. Corona, who had been appointed as administrator of the corporation, has never given them an accounting of its finances. Mrs. Corona so far has not responded but is expected to testify in her husband's trial. GMA News Online has produced the family tree above based on our best information on the clan whose internal squabbles have exploded dramatically in the public domain. Ana Basa, a first cousin of Mrs. Corona, gave a lengthy interview last week to the Philippine Daily Inquirer describing the history of the feud. Chief Justice Corona branded her allegations lies, but a 90-year-old aunt of Mrs. Corona, Sister Flory Basa, corroborated what Ana Basa said. - GMA News More Videos
