Airport official: 6 Manila-Caticlan-Manila flights canceled

At least six flights from Manila to Caticlan and back were canceled Tuesday due to 'operational requirements' and 'aircraft maintenance,' the Manila International Airport Authority said.

In a post on its Twitter account, the MIAA indicated the six flights are based at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

The six flights included:

Air Philippines:
  • 2P-055: Manila to Caticlan
  • 2P-056: Caticlan to Manila
  • 2P-061: Manila to Caticlan
  • 2P-062: Caticlan to Manila

Cebu Pacific:
  • 5J-0913: Manila to Caticlan
  • 5J-902: Caticlan to Manila

Many passengers to Caticlan usually head for the world-famous Boracay Island resort.

Paolo Santos, MIAA gate planning official, said the Air Philippines flights were cancelled due to “operational requirements.”

Kulang ang nag-book sa mga flight na ito kaya imemerge na lang sa ibang flights. Maraming flights ang hindi napupuno, kaya minemerge na lang,” Santos told GMA News Online in a phone interview.

He added that the Cebu Pacific flights were cancelled due to “aircraft situation” or aicraft maintenance. He did not elaborate.

Meanwhile, the MIAA advised travelers heading for the NAIA to avoid Tramo Avenue, and take alternate routes such as Roxas Boulevard or Skyway going to the airport. — with Andreo Calonzo/RSJ, GMA News
