Tsunami warnings for Indian Ocean lifted

The US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center on Wednesday cancelled the tsunami warning for countries in the Indian Ocean.   According to a Reuters report, the agency noted "level readings now indicate that the threat has diminished or is over for most areas."   The warning was raised after a magnitude-8.7 earthquake and several strong aftershocks rocked Aceh, Indonesia at 4:39 p.m. (Manila time) Wednesday.    The Indian government has also lifted its national tsunami warning, issued after the Indonesia quakes, saying the danger has passed. There were no reports of any injury or damage to property as of this posting. —With Rouchelle Dinglasan and Amanda Lago/VS, GMA News
